MADE NEW. LiVE NEw.
If you hang around New City Fellowship long enough, you’re going to hear it a lot:
“Made new by Jesus. Live new for Jesus.”
This is no slogan or happy chant. This is the way we understand what God is doing in the world, in our city, and in our lives. See, in the South Orlando/Kissimmee area, people are constantly moving, rebuilding, starting over, or just trying to survive. Its easy to feel like you’re always starting over, reivneting yourself, restarting things, but never really becoming something new. Each time is the time until next time. But the gospel of Jesus Christ offers something better than a fresh start. It offers a new heart.
Thats what made new, live new is about.
MADE NEW BY JESUS
The Bible says:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
To be made new is not simply to become a better or more holsitic version of yourself. Its not cleaning up your act, fixing a few habits, or trying harder at keeping the religion. To be made new is to be forgiven and made right with God through Jesus’ finished work on the cross. Its to receive a new heart and new desires by the power of the Holy Ghost. It means you’re adopted into God’s family, given a new identity that no one can take away.
For the least, the last, the lost, and the loney— this is good news!
You are not stuck with your worst moments, your deepest sins, or your heaviest labels in front of you. In Christ, you are not defined by what you’ve done or even what’s been done to you. You are defined by what Jesus, and Jesus alone, has done for you.
Being made new is a gift. We don’t earn it. We don’t deserve it. We receive it by grace, through faith in Jesus.
LIVE NEW FOR JESUS
Oh, but there’s more good news!
The Gospel doesn’t stop at being made new. When Jesus saves us, He also sends us.
If being made new is about what Jesus has done for us, then living new is about what Jesus is doing in and through us!
The Bible talks about putting off the old self and putting on the new (Eph. 4:22-24), setting our minds on the things above (Col. 3:1-3), and walking in step with the Spirit (Gal. 5:25). In other words, we don’t just receive new life, we walk in it. We wear it. We are not saved because we live new, we live new because we’ve been saved! Livin new for Jesus means our priorities are now shaped by God’s Kingdom, not our comfort. It means we have new habits that are formed around His presence, not our preferences. It means we have new courage to love, serve, forgive, and go because Jesus was the first to love, serve, forgive, and go.
An Invitation
If you’re reading this and you feel like one of the least, last, lost, or lonely, I want you to know:
Jesus sees you.
Jesus loves you.
And Jesus can make you new
You don’t have to fix yourself first. You don’t have to clean up your story. You can come to Him as you are and by His grace, you will not stay as you are.
As a church family, we’re still learning what it means to live this out. We don’t do it perfectly. But by God’s grace, we are committed to being a people who are made new by Jesus and live new for Jesus—in South Orlando, in Kissimmee, and wherever He sends us.
If you’re curious, hurting, hungry, or just longing for something real, we’d love to walk with you. There’s room for you in what God is doing here.
